Pullin’s Bakery’s Stoke Lane team share their thoughts on life in BS9 as the family business celebrate 100 years in the industry this year.
“Westbury-on-Trym is a popular suburb in north Bristol, particularly with families, and made up of a large number of period properties, and Westbury-on-Trym village (inc. Canford Lane) itself and nearby Stoke Lane high streets, with their combined amenities. Within walking distance of each other, both high streets offer a convenient selection of independent shops and services, including cafes, restaurants, a post office, barbers etc. at the heart of the community. Favourites of ours would be Zest Deli and Kitchen on Stoke Lane and Sarah C grocers on Canford Lane for fresh fruit and veg.
Popular Canford Park sits between the two and adjoins the local library. The park is a much-loved green space for locals for a dog walk, an hour in the playground or even some tennis. The annual charity fireworks display in the park is a community highlight, along with local markets and events, and a very wide selection of local groups and classes for all interests.
Alongside the amenities and green space, good schools are another draw to the area for families, with a broad range of both popular state and independent schooling offerings nearby.
Whilst you have much of what you need on your doorstep, there’s easy access to nearby Henleaze, Sea Mills, Clifton and Bristol Centre, with good transport links via bus, or further afield via easy access to the M5.
It’s a great area to live and work”.
