Award-winning Papadeli was founded by husband and wife team Catrin and Papa just over 20 years ago and sits just off Clifton’s renowned Whiteladies Road.
Clifton is undoubtedly one of the city’s best-known areas, if in part due to its beautiful architectural aesthetic – from the historic Museum, Royal Academy and University buildings, to the properties themselves – and of course the Observatory and famous Brunel’s Suspension Bridge.
The Downs is a huge green area where various events and festivals are held, from Forwards Festival, the Food Festival and Funderworld! – it’s always buzzing on a sunny day with picnics and sports.
It’s also just a short trip to the city centre – Clifton Down train station travels between Avonmouth and Bristol Temple Meads, and there are ample buses into the centre, across the Downs and beyond. Very much up our street, Clifton is a foodie’s dream with so many brilliant independent restaurants, cafes, shops and bars along Cotham Hill, Alma Road and Whiteladies Rd itself, not to mention nearby Clifton Village and the Triangle.
Whether you’re looking for entertainment – the Everyman Cinema is a treat, there’s also the Redgrave Theatre, and the Alma Tavern has a theatre staging lots of original plays and comedy – or a yoga class, a visit to the Lido, fitness session on the Downs or a local hall, a hairdresser, barber of beautician, there’s plenty to choose from!
BS8 has got so much going on – we love it particularly for the great restaurant scene – there’s so much choice!
(Particular mention to our favourites: Pazzo, Bosco, Condesa, Bravas, Rocksalt, Bento Boss | Pubs and bars: Tapps, Alma Tavern | Cafes: Bakesmiths, Burra
